Dear Rotarian Friends,
The month of November for us, the Rotarians, always bears the scar of that which distinguishes Rotary from all other humanitarian organizations – the Rotary Foundation!

Dear Rotarian Friends,
The month of November for us, the Rotarians, always bears the scar of that which distinguishes Rotary from all other humanitarian organizations – the Rotary Foundation!
Everyone has the right to define for themselves their attitude towards the Rotary Foundation. Of course, crossing the doorstep of their club, many young Rotarians don’t even know what the Rotary Foundation is, what goals it is aiming at and what funds it holds. Many clubs do wonderful activities in their communities, without, however, engaging the Foundation and the Rotarians of Bulgaria. The new vision, according which for the first time this year our district works, aims at supporting projects of significant scale, focused on the six priority areas of Rotary. The organization and the realization of six multizonal seminars on project management has helped the friends from our clubs to be even more proactive in the preparation of global grants. I take advantage to thank for the support of ARRFC Krasimir Ganchev PDG, Nina Miteva DGN, Ognyan Gramatikov ADG, Petya Kazakova, Tanya Georgieva, Mariya Goranova. I count on them and on your active participation in the upcoming District Seminar of the Rotary Foundation on the 15-16.11.2013 in Sofia. In fact, this event will be a rehearsal for our hosting of the Zone 20B Training Seminar which will be held in the middle of February 2014. Let us make this hosting successful and memorable!
The Rotary Foundation helps the clubs and districts around the world to work together for a sustainable solution of current problems by voluntarily financing big projects related to clean water, education, healthcare, peace and conflict prevention. More than 2.4 million dollars the Foundation has provided for the implementation of these projects through the last 65 years. Who else can boast such a success?!
In line with this, we must not forget Rotary’s main goal – the final eradication of the wild polio virus. Let us contribute our share – now, when we are closest to success. 5, 10, 100 or 1000 US dollars, everyone can decide for themselves, but let there be no Rotarian who has not helped (be it with little) in the general campaign.
In the dynamic time in which we live, Rotary changes, but it has successful programs, which are still “in style”. Yes, we are far from the goal of the initiative “Every Rotarian, every year”. However, in the past Rotarian year one Bulgarian club was for the first time awarded the title – a Club, 100% supporting the Rotary Foundation. I am proud that this club is the Rotary Club of Stara Zagora and I myself am part of this club.
This is why, my friends, let us keep donating. In this way, we will be proud of our achievements and we will walk with our heads up high. We will share the success of all of our Rotarian friends!
Only in this way, together and with collective efforts we will manage to “Change Lives”!
Yours in Rotary,
Valentin Stoyanov, DG 2013/14
